Love & Respect
What is
Love and Respect? We believe love best motivates a woman and respect most
powerfully motivates a man. Research reveals that during marital conflict, a
husband most often reacts when feeling disrespected and a wife reacts when
feeling unloved. We asked 7,000 people this question: when you are in a
conflict with your spouse or significant other, do you feel unloved or
disrespected? 83% of the men said "disrespected" and 72% of the
women said "unloved." Though we all need love and respect
equally, the felt need differs during conflict, and this difference is as
different as pink is from blue!
Premarital
counseling
Premarital groups offer tools
for couples to build lifetime foundations for Christ centered
relationships. Real
Life marriage and family ministries offer premarital counseling on an as needed
basis plus we offer premarital classes for larger groups the dates and times of
these groups will be listed in the church calendar. Click here to see upcoming
classes.
Marriage
Counseling
Every Relationship needs a
tune-up periodically to help us stay focused on future direction and a biblical
paradigm. Every marriage takes work and attention to relational needs that we
take for granted. Therefore we offer marital direction and encouragement
through counseling by appointment.
Adult
Mentoring
Our society is
highly mobile giving younger adults less opportunity to learn positive
relationship models from their parents and grandparents. Marriage mentoring
allows mature experienced couples the ability to encourage and guide younger
marriages.
A training class is
being enacted to train adult couples who will mentor others in the art or
marriage. After the volunteer mentoring couples are trained there will be
openings for couples to be mentored by those who are well seasoned in a healthy
marriage.
Date Night
Investing time in
your relationship is like maintenance on your car. If you don’t take care of
the little things they will progressively become large problems.
Having a date night
with purpose will keep a slow moving relationship gain momentum. Our date
nights are designed to give you time alone to reconnect with your spouse. Our
goal is to keep our relationships tuned up and running well.
Twice a year Real
Life offers a series of date nights for couples in the community. These date
nights are designed to equip couples with the tools to learn the art of
communication and encouragement. Each week for a period of 10 weeks we will
offer free baby sitting and encourage each couple to watch a short video that
deals with marital issues, then each couple will be encouraged to go on a date
and discuss the topic for the evening while enjoying their night out.
Marriage
Groups
The
marriage ministry offers an evening group that functions like a CARE Group, but
specifically targets marriage topics for discussion. These groups nurture a
deep relational environment and promote stability in marriage encounters. To
learn more about these groups, contact Charlie Couch at Charliec@liferotp.com.
